An un-rapping rememberance of 2pac 2day

Yes, it is 20 years
to his renowned end
Lesane Parish Crooks
a.k.a
Tupac Amaru Shakur
the smart self-made
artist
that taught a generation
before his sudden
(yet predicted )
end.

Fragments of identity
living on
his soul still is
rappering as ever
yes his mama din't raise no fool
yes, some things never change
he is still as cool.

He was a poet
another of those born
ready to die
a velvet touch to his music
engulfing a message of steel
the rhythm
the cadence
the attitude
all summing up to fortitude.

He was
the first artist
to have an album at number one
while serving time
in  prison
(and although it was his word against hers
re-reading the facts
it is hard to avoid the sad conclusion
that  he was as guilty as hell).

And yet
in the end
it wasn't him against the world
just that old tragic rivalry
of the
gangster thug
tragically taking down the
poet-intellectual
and leaving us bereft.
